Chestor House is committed to serving people with all types of developmental disabilities, including autism. The majority of our consumers have moderate to severe developmental disabilities, often accompanied by serious mental illness, medical concerns or physical disabilities. Almost all require in-depth services with 24-hour supervision. It is our philosophy that choice, experience and participation are fundamental to the personal growth and fulfillment of people in our care. We believe that people with developmental disabilities are part of the community, not simply recipients of services.
Our Host Home Providers
- Range from individuals to families participating in consumer care
- Offer small group settings so individuals can be a member of the family
- Offer support on (but not limited to) personal hygiene, appropriate dress, proper nutrition, in-depth therapy, goal-setting, decision-making and recreational activities
- Are like “foster-care” providers but for adults
- Must complete and pass criminal and motor vehicle background check, Medical Administration, CPR, 1St Aid (to begin) and other training's to follow
- Work well with a team of professionals
